Don S McAuliffe

Presiding Judge Fairfield County Municipal Court

Judge Don S. McAuliffe is a life-long resident of Fairfield County and serves as the Administrative and Presiding Judge of the Fairfield County Municipal Court.  Last year, the municipal court judges dealt with more than 3,000 civil cases, nearly 3,000 felony and misdemeanor cases, and more than 19,000 traffic cases.

Prior to becoming a judge, Judge McAuliffe was a sole practitioner for over twenty years with a successful general civil practice.  In addition to his civil practice background, Judge McAuliffe gained criminal, traffic, and administrative case experience while working for the Ohio Attorney General (Division of Criminal Activities), for the Fairfield County Prosecutor (as a trial attorney) for the communities of Pickerington, Baltimore, Carroll, Thurston, and Lithopolis (as legal advisor and prosecutor), and as a member of the American Arbitration Association.

In recognition of Judge McAuliffe’s “dedicated service” to the communities of Pickerington and Baltimore, Judge McAuliffe received Proclamations of Appreciation from both communities.  Additionally, Judge McAuliffe was also presented the symbolic key to the City of Pickerington.  The key is believed to be only the second one issued in the community’s 188 year history.  The Judge has lived in these two (2) communities for a total of 55 years.

In addition to his membership in a number of professional, social and fraternal organizations, Judge McAuliffe’s community activities include being the past president of the Fairfield County Bar Association, being a past board member of the Robert K Fox Family Y, and attendance at the Fairfield Christian Church.  Judge McAuliffe plans to run his fourth New York Marathon this fall.

The Ohio Supreme Court recently appointed Judge McAuliffe to co-chair The Supreme Court’s Advisory Committee on Court Security.  This committee is charged with improving court security for all of Ohio’s courts of record.  Also, the Judge is participating in The Supreme Court’s Jury Innovations Pilot Project.
