About the Clerk of Court

   Sherry Eckman has served as the Clerk of Court since her appointment to the position in March of 1987.  The position of the clerk became elected, as a result of the 1990 census when the population of Fairfield County exceeded 100,000.  Sherry declared her candidacy and has served as the elected clerk since January 1, 1992.  She will be serving her fourth six-year term starting January 1, 2010.

   The clerk and her capable staff of twelve deputy clerks, and two part-time deputy clerks, strive to assure that the tasks of the office, as set forth in the Ohio Revised Code, are adhered to and carried out.  Established procedures and legal processes insure that the municipal court case documentation is recorded and maintained correctly.

   Sherry has served as President of the Ohio Association of Municipal Court Clerks and has been the recipient of their Outstanding Clerk’s Award.  She has served on numerous Supreme Court Committees and has served on the Advisory Committee on Technology and the Courts.  Current information on that commission can be accessed at
